1. Team says, “Pulse Fix is Live!”

    FEBRUARY 1, 2012

    Pulse Guthrie/Leemus Fix

We’d like to thank everybody for alerting us (via emails, reviews, and homing pigeons) about the desyncing bug on one of the new Pulse: Volume One tracks, Belly of the Beast, by Jim Guthrie. We have resolved the issue and the track has been realigned with the orbits of the planets, so go update your Pulse!

Also, the artist of the track Pop! has been corrected to Leemus Music. Happy tapping!

  2. Team says, “Auditorium is Going Downloadable!”

    JANUARY 31, 2012

Auditorium Standalone GraphicWe’ve finally gotten around to creating a standalone version of Auditorium, and it’s heading to the Steam Store and the Cipher Prime Store! Expect to see it up in the next few weeks!

I bought the web-based Auditorium already. So, do I get a downloadable version?

Sure! If you are an existing purchaser, once everything is on the Cipher Prime Store and finalized on the Steam Store you will be able to redeem your game. You can download it straight from your products page.

Is there anything new in the game? Why are you releasing it as a standalone version?

No, aside from a new main menu, this version of Auditorium is the same as the classic full version. This standalone release is coming because fans have been asking for this for a while, and because we’re transitioning our titles away from browser-based games.

I’d rather just play on the PlayAuditorium.com website, can I still do that?

Yes. However, we are going to be moving the game from the PlayAuditorium.com website to a dedicated page on the Cipher Prime website. No need to worry about that, though, because PlayAuditorium.com will automatically redirect you to the proper place!

Will my progress from the web version be saved if I start playing on the standalone version?

Unfortunately, no. We’re sorry! In addition to moving the game off of PlayAuditorium.com, and to make the standalone version slightly better, we’re storing all the save information locally on the user’s machine. This includes the web version! In order to cut down on server fees we will no longer be maintaining the PlayAuditorium database, so the local save means your progress will only be saved on the machine you play on.

So, what else have you been up to? Anything new? How’s your mum?

If you’ve been following any Cipher Prime news, you’ll know we’ve been working on a neat little puzzler called Splice. Well, we’re putting the finishing touches on that game and you’ll hear more about it the near future!

And expect to hear from us soon about a KickStarter campaign we’re getting set to launch. Something to do with a sequel…a bigger, better, multiplayer one!

She’s doing well, thanks for asking!

  3. Team says, “Philly Inquirer Features ‘Splice’”

    JANUARY 25, 2012

We’ve been hinting at this game for a while now. We even showed off an early version of it at the IGDA Philly Dev Night in November. So if you’ve been wondering what “Splice” is all about, the Philadelphia Inquirer has the scoop. Check out the exposé by Geekadelphia’s Eric Smith in his article A Look At Cipher Prime’s ‘Splice’.

  4. Team says, “Fractal Pulled from iTunes App Store”

    JANUARY 24, 2012

Due to technical issues experienced with our publisher—namely that they are technically no longer our publisher—Fractal: Make Blooms Not War has been pulled from the iTunes App Store. Don’t worry, though. The situation is only temporary. Now that publishing rights have been returned to Cipher Prime, we’ll be re-releasing Fractal for the iPad under our own name. When Fractal does return to the store, it will be registered as an entirely different app and will need to be downloaded to receive the latest version and any future updates. Unfortunately, there’s no way to transfer purchases in a situation like this one. Keep your eyes posted on the blog for updates!

  5. Team says, “Pulse Featured in the App Store!”

    JANUARY 20, 2012

App Store; Music & Rhythm Games

We love it when this happens. Apple threw together a selection of top “Music & Rhythm Games” on the App Store, and Pulse: Volume One made the cut! Thanks to all of our long-time supporters and all of our new players, we hope you enjoy the game!

  6. Team says, “Fractal Game Guide Now Available”

    JANUARY 20, 2012

By popular demand, the Official Game Guide for Fractal: Make Blooms Not War is now available on the Fractal game page. This guide covers the mechanics and metrics for the different types of fractals, blooms, and game modes available.

For anyone interested in gameplay videos, these are two we thought were worth sharing:

  7. Team says, “Last Call for the Indie Royale Bundle!”

    JANUARY 9, 2012

    New Year Indie Royale Bundle

Fractal is included in Indie Royale’s New Year’s Bundle, but it’s the last day of the sale!

For the next 24 hours, you can purchase Fractal along with three other games: Nuclear Dawn (InterWave Studios), Max and the Magic Marker (Press Play), and Super Crossfire (Radian Games).

The Indie Royale Bundle is a fluctuating minimum price bundle, meaning that the minimum price goes up the more people that buy it! And if people pay more than the minimum price, it reduces the price for other buyers! (Also, you get a copy of George & Jonathan‘s “Beautiful Lifestyle” chiptune album!)

So grab the bundle at Indie Royale, or at least go to check out the action!

  8. Team says, “Holiday Update & New Tracks”

    DECEMBER 21, 2011

Seasons Greetings from the Cipher Prime team! Pulse: Volume One, the Holiday Edition, is available NOW! In the spirit of giving, we’ve added six new tracks with this update, bringing Pulse up to nearly an hour of original music!  Two of our favorite tracks come complimentary of two great Gamercamp artists:  Jim Guthrie (Sword and Sworcery) and 6955 (Super T.I.M.E. Force).  We can’t wait to hear what you think of them!  You can also download and listen to the tracks on our Music page.  We meant to get these out earlier, but have been super busy, so we thank you for your continued patience and support!

    The newest tracks include:

We’re also happy to announce that Gamezebo listed Pulse as one of the Best iPad Games of 2011.  We can’t wait to see what 2012 will bring!  Yay!

  9. Team says, “Super Indie Bundle on Steam!”

    DECEMBER 21, 2011

Happy Holidays!  Guess what! Fractal is included in the Super Indie Bundle, an awesome holiday deal going on in the Steam Store right now! From now until January 2nd, this bundle of ten amazing games from some super cool indie studios is available for $19.99; that’s 77% off the cost of buying all ten games!

Honestly, we’re pretty honored to be a part of this group. LIMBO, from the Danish developer Playdead, is one of the most visually pleasing games we’ve ever played. Cave Story+, created by Daisuke Amaya under the Pixel alias, is an updated version of the original game that has been lauded by reviewers as a milestone game in the action-adventure genre. The bundle also includes one of Will’s favorite games, Revenge of the Titans, from Puppy Games.  Its cutesy and retro vibe belies the intensely strategic thinking it requires of the player.  All in all it’s super fun!  The team is also really into Gemini Rue; created by Josh Nuernberger and released by Wadjet Eye Games, it’s a point-and-click adventure that has some outstanding, neo-noir storytelling that really sets it apart. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with everything and hope you feel the same way!  : D

  10. Team says, “Pulse: OST Updated!”

    DECEMBER 6, 2011

We’ve updated the Pulse: OST with four additional tracks. Now Pulse’s Catnip, High Roller, Orbital Drop, and Sahara are available for your aural enjoyment!

Here’s one of our favorites, Orbital Drop:

For those customers who have already purchased the official soundtrack, this update will be available–for free–through our website. All you need to do is re-download the album. If you haven’t had a chance to pick up the OST yet, all thirteen songs are available for a tidy sum of two dollars!

Also, the updated version of Fractal is available on Steam, the Cipher Prime Store, and the Mac App Store, be sure to check it out if you haven’t already! (It’s awesome.) We’re also very proud of Pulse: Volume One for being listed by the App Store as a Benchmark Game for its innovative gameplay!
