Due to technical issues experienced with our publisher—namely that they are technically no longer our publisher—Fractal: Make Blooms Not War has been pulled from the iTunes App Store. Don’t worry, though. The situation is only temporary. Now that publishing rights have been returned to Cipher Prime, we’ll be re-releasing Fractal for the iPad under our own name. When Fractal does return to the store, it will be registered as an entirely different app and will need to be downloaded to receive the latest version and any future updates. Unfortunately, there’s no way to transfer purchases in a situation like this one. Keep your eyes posted on the blog for updates!

Woah woah what? So previous owners have to repurchase the app to get future updates? D:

Ideally, no. But, we're still working out that end of the deal. We'll post an update once we have a solution.

Bummer how things like that happen. Hopefully you guys can work it out so it all transfers over. (Theoretically it's possible, I recall it happening for Tweetie when Twitter bought it) But hey, if it doesn't happen, then I'll have no problem re-buying it.

@ Stephen S. Thanks! Hopefully it won't come to that though. We are currently talking to Apple to see what our options are. The Tweetie situation, unfortunately, was not resolved as cleanly as transferring old users. The original Tweetie developer sold the upgrade as a new $3.00 app, and when Twitter bought Tweetie they just dropped the price to free. So we'll see! http://www.macworld.com/article/143073/2009/09/tweetie2_pricing.html http://techcrunch.com/2010/04/09/twitter-acquires-tweetie/

Hello. I've been hearing, and seeing bits and pieces, of your app for quite a while. I've been dying to download it to my iPad. Bummer that it's going to be awhile. Any idea when it'll be out in the AppStore again? And is there any way that I could be notified of the event? If you could reply in an email to me I'd sure appreciate it. Fractal looks amazing--like an app that belongs on the iPad. Thanks, Ray

@Ray Norris Howdy Ray, we are working on trying to get the game submitted in the next week or so. After that it'll go through a short waiting period before being posted again. I will be sure to email you when it's up. Also, Fractal is definitely more fun on the iPad, "pushing" the fractals with your finger feels a lot more natural than clicking on the screen.

Could you make Fractal free when it is brought back? Please reply. Thanks.

I don't mind paying for it again, personally. Of course, now I have to work on recapturing #1 on the campaign leaderboard.

Now that you're sailing your own ship again, can some of us that have been there since the Auditorium beta days PLEASE get a non-ipad version of Pulse? Pretty please? I've been waiting two years already :)

@James Well, we have done some preliminary tests with the one Android tablet that we have (the Kindle Fire), and will be trying to build out to a more powerful one a friend is letting us borrow pretty soon. Part of the difficulty, as you can tell, is that we don't have the hardware to test out our games on Android. But so far it looks like porting Pulse to other tablets will require a little bit more (we hope only a little bit) work than we hoped, mainly because we had to make some very iPad specific tweaks to get Pulse working on that platform in the first place. But have no fear, we are working on it!

Unfortunate to hear about your publishers. I don't mind having to re-buy such a great app again as I know it only goes towards developing more of those others apps you probably have in the works! Thanks for the reduced pricing also!

@andrei Thanks for your response, but I was actually thinking about a non-tablet device. I have two Macbook Pros, and was thinking the multi-touch trackpad might be an acceptable standin. Of course, I'm not sure if it'd be a more or less transparent translation, or how many other platforms have multi-touch, so feel free to ignore me :) BTW...Splice looks pretty sick!

@Manni No problem, and thank you! @James Ah, we haven't even explored the idea of Pulse on non-tablet multi-touch devices. Mainly because we don't have any to test it out. Though we were looking at a "poor man's Multi-Touch computer" the other day! http://www.maximumpc.com/article/features/maximum_pc_builds_a_multitouch_surface_computer Making Pulse available for those sorts of machines would certainly be very cool, we'll have to experiment with it! We're looking forward to finishing Splice; we're getting a lot better at polishing the visuals of our games (we hope!), though at it's heart Splice is an experimental little puzzler. We think of it as being both sexy and cerebral.
