Dain says, “Steam Codes for Fractal Owners!”

DECEMBER 2, 2011

Good news! We’ve worked out the kinks with Valve, and I’m happy to announce that we’ve gotten codes for all Fractal owners to activate their copies on Steam! All you’ll need to do is:

  1. Log into your account at the Cipher Prime Store.
  2. If you haven’t already, Activate Your Copy of Fractal.
  3. In the product list, under Fractal, click Generate Serial.
  4. Launch Steam and log into your Steam account.
  5. Click the Games Menu.
  6. Choose Activate a Product on Steam…
  7. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.
The Cipher Prime and Steam versions of Fractal are somewhat incompatible, so I’d recommend uninstalling Fractal first. Additionally, some people have noted that the Steam build of Fractal crashes after the resolution screen on certain Windows machines. This can be fixed if you download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86). We’ll be sure to get that included in the next update on Steam. Thanks for playing, everyone! Let us know if you guys run into any issues, and have a great weekend!

This is great! I've always liked to have my games on Steam; makes them easier to manage, so getting a Steam key is wonderful. I have to wonder, though: How are the Steam and non-Steam versions different? I finally got to the last level, and... You are cruel, guys. So many points... Anyhow, hope the Steam release gets you many more sales, you deserve it.

Worked like a charm, thanks a lot! Could you please add an option to skip the configuration window at the start? That window isn't really needed once you've got the resolution properly set up. And the input configuration is pretty hilarious - I never knew you could "jump" in this game :-)

Steam version doesn't work on my PC :( Though the one from the CipherPrime store does. o_o Not sure why. Could it be because I have both versions installed?

I bought the steam version of your game, but I can't get it to launch... the preference window comes up, but when I click "play" the game closes. Any ideas? Is this something I should take up w/Steam?
